"These [new] numbers combined with declining favorability ratings for all news media suggest that it is time for a reorientation in the way the press covers the military. This study suggests that almost half of the population thinks that press coverage of the military — suspicious, cynical, focused on the negative — is weakening the nation’s defenses."There are 24.9 million veterans in the United States with direct experience of life in the military. Add to that number relatives of veterans, friends of veterans , and co-workers of veterans casually talking around the the water cooler and you can see why the public has a vested interest in accurate reporting.
